Camp Washington has been nurturing exploration and transformation for over 100 years! Established in 1917, Camp Washington’s beautiful 300 acre campus in the Litchfield Hills welcomes people of all faith traditions to find God in nature, to relax and learn, to have fun and make life long friends!  Camp Washington is the official camp and retreat center of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut.

We strive to create a community where children and staff, through teamwork, individual exploration and worship, can grow closer to God, as revealed in Jesus Christ. At Camp Washington we promote the enjoyment of nature through education and creativity, the strength of a community based on both togetherness and independence,  and the ability to enable each person towards the recognition of their responsibility as stewards of God’s creation.

Meet Cameron Taylor Summer Camp & Programs Director

unnamed copy.jpg

We are excited to welcome Cameron Taylor as our new Summer Camp and Program Director. Cameron will be living on campus and will be working with Executive Director Bart Geissinger and the rest of the staff to re-imagine exciting summer and year-round programs for youth and young adults. Cameron made the journey to Camp Washington from his home in Virginia, arriving this week to a New England welcome of snow, followed by 50-degree temps, mud, rain, more ice, and snow predicted for the weekend- Welcome to CT Cameron!

“I'm so excited to join the Camp Washington family as the Summer Camp and Program Director! I attended camp as a child, and began my career as a camp professional at my home camp, Camp Chanco, down in Southern Virginia as a camp counselor. I’ve served in other staff leadership roles as the Ropes Course Director and the Assistant Camp Director.” Cameron says, “Camp in the Episcopal Church has really formed the person I am today: providing me with a sense of community, wonderful lifelong friends, and giving me the skills to love my neighbor to the best of my ability.

“When I'm not working, I love to hike, play board games, and catch up on new episodes of Star Trek (or watch the classics). I'm really excited to explore the property, and try out the zip line, once it gets warmer! I have been amazed by both the wonderful facilities here at Camp Washington and its community. It is apparent that this camp is loved by the community and has a special place in so many people's hearts. I cannot wait to get to know all of you over the course of the coming months and look forward to welcoming you on campus, or at summer camp!” said Cameron.

Executive Director Bart Geissinger said, “We are thankful Cameron has joined the Camp Washington family, and I am looking forward to encouraging his creativity, appreciating his talents, and helping him grow into his call as a faithful, compassionate leader. He brings with him a life-long love for camp, and a desire to grow and strengthen the programs we offer. I hope you will join me in warmly welcoming him to Camp, and the ECCT.”

Work at camp washington - summer 2022

Working at Camp Washington is more of a calling than a simple summer job.  It takes creativity, patience, initiative, and a healthy dose of humor.  Both our campers and their parents can attest that the most important piece of the Camp Washington program is the team of dedicated young men and women who come together to form the summer staff each year.

Each year we carefully select a team of mature, responsible, and creative individuals to lead, support, and challenge our campers.  Join us for the best summer job you will ever have: long days, warm nights, and memories to last a lifetime!

If you think you have what it takes to be a part of this immersive environment, to be a Youth Development Professional, and to truly become a part of a welcoming and supportive community, we welcome you to apply for consideration by completing the application. We are looking for Program Directors in Arts & Crafts, Sports, Performing Arts, Wilderness and Waterfront, as well as cabin staff and more!
