October 13, 2019 at 4:30pm

The Holy Landers Ministry Network and ECCT sponsored a pilgrimage to our Holy Land in June 2019 that included both Bishop Douglas and Bishop Ahrens. A smaller group of the pilgrims continued into Jordan. Join us as some of the pilgrims present and share their experiences of walking and following in Jesus' footsteps. See amazing pictures of the land and its peoples. Hear how Holy Scripture came alive in new ways--through sights and sounds and smells and tastes. Bishop Ahrens will celebrate the Holy Eucharist, followed by dinner and fellowship.

$10.00 suggested donation for dinner. Call to register. 860.567.9623

Icon Writing with

Kara Nelson, Iconographer

Prayerful meditation & the ancient technique of creating icons.

Join renowned instructor Kara Nelson for an extended weekend workshop in the ancient technique of icon writing. This process inspires prayerful meditation, both while creating the art and reflecting on the finished piece.

We will learn the process in which we recreate an ancient and sacred image, The Mother of God of Tenderness, using acrylic paints and 23-carat gold. Through silence and sharing, work and rest, prayers and meals, we create a unique community, and together invite the Holy Spirit to work in and through us as we paint this holy image.

Icons are visual representations of invisible realities meant to help us understand spiritual truths and aid in worship and prayer. Beginners and experienced iconographers will find this course rewarding.

The fee is $825 per person. This includes all supplies for painting as well as all meals, accommodations and much more – prayer, silence and lively conversation, free time and social hours. Retreat Chaplain- The Rev. Dr. Jenny Montgomery, Trinity Newtown.
